    hello my problem is this:
    spec:
    win7 64bit
    amd 5600+
    nvidia 8600gt 256mb
    4 gb ram

Problem is that when after loading, when comes server selection game starts lagging like hell. System resource manager show cpu0 at full potential and half cpu1 potential.
Any suggestions of how to get mu running normally is welcome.

Hmm. Well mu usually eats lots of your CPU. My 1 core computer uses 70-100% CPU.

Have you updated your Nvidia graph card's drivers to the latest ones?

I had the same problem.Same configuration of windows 7 64 bit.
I updated my video cards but nothing happened. There are various types of Windows 7 and on few works Mu.
The best solution is to install Windows XP or you can install/reinstall windows 7 until you find a good one.
    Kindly Regards,Sunrise

i'm using windows7 x64 as well, no problems here

    1. see if there are windows updates u need to download
    2. update ur graphics card's driver
    3. right click on your desktop>screen rezolutions>advanced settings, and there loot at your video card, vind the setting hardware acceleration and set it to maximum, if you dont find it there look in your video card aplication,
    4. try setting a priority for main.exe in task manager(processes), right click the main.exe there and set priority low/normal/high or even play with the afinity set to 1 core in stead of both, fool around a bit in there, but carefully doing so.

-if nothing works, reinstall your windows with a better coppy of windows7

i use win7 ultimate x64, i have all the updates, and everything is fine.
(PS: its not a licensed one, pirated from the net)
