This is a MuOnline beginners guide

MuOnline is a MMORPG (meaning: massive multiplayer online role playing game)
At any given time there are at least 1000 players on each of the 2 servers available so if you like crowds and battles, then this is the perfect game for you.

    Game requirements:
    Minimal Requirements
CPU Pentium II - 300 MHz
    RAM 32MB or above
    OS Win9x
    Video 8MB

    Recommended
CPU Pentium III - 500 MHz or above
    RAM 64MB or above
    OS Win2000/XP
    Video 16MB with DirectX support

    Installation
To get you started, create an account on the website.
Download the client and install the game in the default installation directory or choose another more suitable location on your hard disk drive where the application will install.
After the installation is complete, you can enter the game by double clicking the shortcut on your desktop or by double clicking the executable file main.exe located in the directory where you installed the application, then wait for the game to load.
After the game has loaded, you will see two main servers that you can connect to. Be careful witch one you choose because once you select one, you cannot play the other server using the same account.

    Server information
Click one of the two servers and you will see the main server expands into 10 different sub-servers. You can play on any of these sub-servers with the same account. Notice the sub-servers have a name, followed by the attribute PVP or NON-PVP. PVP means player versus player, while NON-PVP means that you cannot attack another player, you can only attack monsters. The other characteristics are the same for both type of sub-servers.
Select a suitable sub-server for you to play, PVP or NON-PVP by clicking any of the ten in the list.

    Character creation
The account is now opened but to physically play, you will now have to create a character. The maximum number of characters is 5.

There are three types of characters you can choose to create:
the Dark Knight, the Dark Wizard and the Dark Elf. There are two more types of characters you can create but they are locked now, more on how to unlock them later in the guide.
The Dark Knight, referred to as DK, is a fighter and is the best character for beginners because the stat point allocation is easy, and the DK has higher defense than the other two characters, he is a melee character.
The Dark Wizard, referred to as DW, is a spell caster and he has lower defense than the DK but he is a range attacking character.
The Dark Elf, referred to as Elf, is a range character using bows and crossbows to attack from afar.
Choose a type of character you will like to play by clicking the “create character button”, and choose suitable name for your character.
Click the character and then click "connect" or double-click the character to enter the game.
If you have created a DK or a DW you will start in the city called Lorencia, if you created an Elf character you will start in Noria. Do not worry about this as you can travel from one city to another really easy.
There are 3 main cities, Lorencia, where DK and DW start, Noria where Elf start and Devias witch is a frozen wasteland where you can find some hard monsters.
MuOnline has over 20 maps for you to play.

    Ingame tips
Pay attention to the bottom left side of your screen; you will see there a red orb, that is the life indicator, when it reaches 0 the character is warped inside a safe zone. You cannot die, just run out of life. On the bottom right side of your screen you can see the blue orb that is your mana indicator. Once it reaches 0, you cannot use skills or spells that use mana.
Life and mana potions can be bought at the store in any city; they are used for replenishing the life and mana of the character. They cost ZEN, witch is the currency of MuOnline. You can get zen by gathering the zen that drops from killed monsters, by selling items to any store or by trading with another player.
After you buy some life and/or mana potions, you can use them by right clicking them in your inventory window, opened by using default I, or by pressing Q for life potions and W for mana potions(as seen on the tool belt in the middle bottom of the screen).
Once you press I, the inventory window opens and you can inspect your character equipment and inventory items.
To chat with other players press Enter one time, type your message and then press enter again. Your message can be seen by all players surrounding your character.
Get used to your surroundings then if you feel ready, go outside the city and search for some monsters to kill. You can kill any monster as long as it is not too powerful for your level.
You are currently level 1. After you start to kill monsters, you will see a yellow bar loading in the middle bottom of your screen as well as a number on the right side of that bar. It starts at 0, when you fill one, it will be gray again, and the number 1 will be displayed on its right side. After you fill 10 yellow bars, your character will advance to level 2. Notice a red plus sign pops up. To display your character stats panel press C. You will see you have 5 points that can be added to any of the four stats the character displays, strength, dexterity, vitality and energy.
For DK: strength is good for attack rate and higher damage rate, agility is good for higher defense (meaning you get less damage from monsters) and increases attack speed, vitality increases your hit point number, and energy increases your mana and also your skill damage (as you see skill damage is 200%, for any 10 points to energy DK skill gives 1% more damage).
For DW: strength is useless besides the weapon strength requirement, agility is good for higher defense (meaning you get less damage from monsters) and increases attack speed, vitality increases your hit point number, energy increases your damage and mana number.
For ELF: strength increases damage, agility is good for higher defense (meaning you get less damage from monsters), increases attack speed AND increases damage, vitality increases your hit point number, energy increases you mana number and the duration/effect of spells.

After you kill monsters, items will drop, to pick them up press SPACE or click on them. If you do not have any more room in your inventory, the message "inventory full" appears. To make room, click an item in your inventory then click outside of the inventory window, the item will be dropped. However, this is only the case if a very good item drops and you have to pick it up fast, usually it's better to go to the city and sell the items you find to other players or to the store(referred as NPC - non player character). Some items you will find can be equipped by your character class so check before you sell them for zen.

    Character equipments:
Press I to open your inventory window, on the top left of the screen you can see the character slots, these are where the items your character can equip will be placed.
    For any class:
Imp, uniria, dinorant, fenrir on the Pet slot
Wings level 1, level 2 and level 3 on the Wings slot
Left hand slot is used to equip weapons or the Elf's crossbow bolts
Right hand slot is used to equip shields or the Elfs arrows as well as the DK's second weapon (Dk is the only character able to wield two one hand weapons at a time).
There are set equipment slots (one for each part of the set, Helm, Armor, Gloves, Pants and Boots), one slot for pendant, and 2 slots for rings.

Notice every item has different properties once you move your mouse onto it. Pets give extra damage or skills, set parts give extra defense, pendant and rings give protection from some attacks such as Ring of fire - Fire resistance, and wings give extra damage in percentage and absorb extra damage in percentage - level 1 wings give 12% damage decreased for the player, and 12% damage increase.

Items have certain level and stats requirements, meaning you cannot wear an item that requires level 20 if you are level 10, nor can you use a weapon that requires 100 strength if you have only 50 strength. This doesn't mean you have to sell the item, you can first meet the requirements then you will be able to wear it.
Once you kill enough monsters and get to level 50, you will be able to use the warp menu, access that by pressing the M key. The white map names means you can warp there, instead of walking, while the red maps cannot be accessed at your current level, only on the level shown on the right side of the map name.

Also items range from +0 to +13, every +value the item's damage or defense increases with 3. So if an item called "leather helm" has 10 defense at+0, a value of +3 means it will now have a defense of 19 and the strength requirement for you to wear increases in the same way, by adding 3 for every +value.

    Quests
After you get to level 150 you will have to finish the quest of priest Lala, to change your character class.
For all character classes: you have to go to Devias city and look for a NPC called Priest Lala. Click her and follow the conversation. She will ask you to go find the "scroll of emperor". The scroll of emperor drops from monsters just like zen or items do, so go search for it. After you find it, come back and talk to the NPC again.
For DK: She will ask to find the quest item called "broken sword". You can find this in the same way as you found the scroll of the emperor. After you find it, come back and click the NPC Priest Lala, follow the conversation. You are now a Blade Knight (referred to as BK) and get 20 free stat points to add wherever you want on the 4 stats mentioned above.
For DW: He will ask to find the quest item called "soul of wizard". You can find this in the same way as you found the scroll of the emperor. After you find it, come back and click the NPC Priest Lala, follow the conversation. You are now a Soul Master (referred to as SM) and get 20 free stat points to add wherever you want on the 4 stats mentioned above.
For Elf: She will ask to find the quest item called "tear of elf". You can find this in the same way as you found the scroll of the emperor. After you find it, come back and click the NPC Priest Lala, follow the conversation. You are now a Muse Elf (referred to as ME) and get 20 free stat points to add wherever you want on the 4 stats mentioned above.
Also the quest allows the new created character class to wear better items than before and equip better spells and skills, so now be on the lookout for them.
Once you get to level 180 the character class can wear wings level 1 of +0 value. For each + value 5 more levels are needed to wear, +2 lvl 1 wings have a level requirement of level 190.
Once you get to level 215 you can wear level 2 wings, same as for level 1 wings, for each +value 5 more levels are needed to wear, +3 lvl 2 wings have a level requirement of level 230.
At level 220 you can make the second quest, the Hero quest. Find the NPC called Marlon and click him. Follow the conversation, he will ask you to get him the quest item called "ring of glory". This can be found on very hard maps such as Tarkan or Icarus. After you find the "ring of glory" find Marlon again and talk to him. From now on, your character receives 6 points per level instead of 5 and gains the ability to learn one new very powerful skill.
For BK: The only class that has this quest - after the "ring of glory quest" he has to find the "Blood stone" that ca be found in the same place ring of glory is found. After that, talk to Marlon again and now you can perform Combo Skill, done by performing a triple attack on a target, giving out 10x the normal damage.
For SM: The SM can now learn nova spell, the most powerful spell in game.
For ME: The ME can now learn Ice arrow skill, completely freezing another character or monster for 4-5 seconds.

    The new characters
At level 220 a new type of character is unlocked and can now be created. It is called the Magic Gladiator.
At level 250 the last character type is unlocked, it is called the Dark Lord.
The Magic Gladiator (referred to as MG) is a combination of the Dark knight and Dark Wizard, using the items from both classes as well as his own class items.
The Dark Lord (referred to as DL) is the only character who can wear 2 more pets, the Dark Raven and Dark Horse (the dark horse is equipped by putting it on the pet slot, while the dark raven is equipped like a shield).
Both of these characters, the DL and the MG, receive 7 points per level starting at level 1, meaning a level 100 dark knight has 500 points to add, while a DL or MG has 700 points. Also, they are allowed to warp sooner on to maps, a DK/SM/ELF needing level 50 to warp to another city, while the DL and MG need only level 33.
They both start from level 1, so it's up to the player if they are worth the effort to level again, making level 250 being a 2-3 years work of constant playing, many choosing to continue with the characters they started with. The maximum level reachable is level 400. Only about 30 players managed to get one character to level 400 in the 7 years Mu Online has been running.
This guide was made for 1x xp, on our server we curently have 150x xp so it's alot easier to level, and also we have a reset system, once you get to level 400, reset on the website then you will start again from level 1, keeping your stats and all items.
    Have fun and play fair.
